A hands free system from Paxton Access guarantees site security and complete usability

Hands free access control means that the token used to identify a user is read from within their pocket or handbag etc.  This means an authorised user can open a door without having to present their token.  It's particularly useful for gates/barriers, loading doors and where disabled or elderly people require access.  Compatible with Switch2 and Net2 Incredibly easy to installMinimal additional equipment (1 x hands free interface per door & hands free tokens)Retrofit capabilitiesMinimal on-site disturbanceInstalling a Paxton Access hands free system is easy due to the innovative hands free interface and associated technology.  The interface increases read ranges significantly without the hassle of installing door or ground loops as required by other systems.  Because the interface is wired in series between a reader and a control unit it doesn't require its own power supply.Hands free tokens are available in two types: hands free keyfobs and hands free keycards.  Both tokens are fitted with PROXIMITY chips that allow them to be used as close proximity tokens too.  The keycard also has a booster facility that enables automatic gates to be activated from up to 50m away.  Hands free applications:Convenience: unhindered movement is desirable in itself.Car parks: Drivers can activate automatic barriers from the comfort of their car. Regulatory: Conform to regulations as laid out in the Disability Discrimination Act.Security: Doors no longer need to be propped open in factories/warehouses where moving stock around hinders swiping tokens.Hygiene: Reduce the risk of cross contamination in food/beverage production areas, pharmaceutical companies and hospitals etc.

BQT Solutions introduces its miPASS Bio-X Series access control readers

The Bio-X Series Outdoor Biometric Readers. A robust, weatherproof and vandal resistant security device designed for all climatic conditionsThe miPASS BIO-X & XK Series readers offers the ultimate security by combining leadingedge fingerprint scanning technology and encryption for secure user verification and authentication, limiting exposure through lost or stolen access cards.Card holder’s access control data and fingerprint template is encoded directly into the memory chip of the miPASS card, which is secured with encryption keys protecting the card holder’s information from beingcompromised. The BIO-X & KX Series reads the cardholder’s data from the memory chip of a miPASS card and only transmits to a door controller once a valid finger has been presented. In addition to the smart card reader + fingerprint verification device, the BIO-XK is fitted with a 4 x 3 keypad and 4 programable function keys.Authentication is performed locally within the BIO-X & XK Series readers and doesn’t require reference to a centralised database. The ‘Match on Card’ method improve performance by minimising verification time and eliminating privacy concerns. The 1:1 ‘match on card’ method eliminates False Acceptance Rates (F.A.R) providing a more accurate result that than to 1:N (1 to many) systems.Ideal for new site installations or security enhancements of any existing access control systems using Mifare, ‘Swipe’ or ‘Prox’ (125 KHz) card and reader technologies, the Bio Series offers a cost effective solution for high security requirements. Both the BIO-X & XK Series readers are available in three different models to cater for all high security requirements large or small, whether your projects are price or functionality driven.

Borer add USB connected smart card reader/writer to their family of Network ready smart card readers

Following the successful introduction of the combined biometric and smartcard reader Borer are now adding a USB connected smart card reader/writer to their family of Network ready smart card readers. Aesthetically pleasing with a sleek black, desktop wedge housing just 45 mm wide, the Fusion USB proximity card reader connects directly to a PC via the standard USB Interface. It can be used for cardholder enrolment, to write cardholder details including the Cardholder Unique Identity (CHUID), PIN and optionally biometric templates (finger-print or iris). A digital photograph of the cardholder can also be written to the card. The card reader can also be configured as read only to prevent unauthorised data being written to a card. The FUSION USB Card Reader/Writer supports industry standard (ISO 14443A and B - Mifare and DESFire, ISO 7803-4 and ISO 15693) where a card can be used for a variety of applications including access control, attendance recording, travel card and cashless vending. All data written to the card is heavily encrypted using secure 3DES or AES encryption ensuring that the data held on the card can only be accessed by authorised users. Unlike many other solutions where biometric details are held on a central database, Borer holds these templates on the card ensuring that cardholders retain possession of their personal data at all times. Because the cardholders' personal and biometric information are held on a smartcard rather than on a central database or in the reader's memory, the system can support an unlimited number of cardholders and biometric templates. The card reader firmware is field upgradeable so that new firmware can be downloaded to the reader head enabling new applications or generations of smart cards to be supported.
