SALTO provides security to Simon Fraser University
SALTO Systems won the contract to supply and install a fully integrated access control solution at SFU
Simon Fraser is ranked as one of the top three comprehensive universities in Canada, and has three vibrant campuses in Burnaby, Vancouver and Surrey, British Columbia. It is home to over 25,000 students and spans many disciplines in eight faculties, offering more than 100 undergraduate major and joint major programs and more than 45 graduate offerings.

In order to maintain its position as one of Canada's leading education providers it needs to make sure that it offers the best facilities to both students and staff and so, to achieve this, SFU is initiating a program to upgrade and improve many of its already modern and impressive buildings. The first phase of this program is beginning with the student residence building on Burnaby campus.

Refurbishment work is underway and SALTO Systems have been awarded the contract to supply and install a fully integrated access control solution, removing mechanical keyed locks and retro-fitting an initial 50 doors with XS4 electronic escutcheons using HID iClass RFID key cards. The system is fully scalable and as budget allows the XS4 system will be rolled out campus wide to cover all the university's future security development needs.

Amir Zouak, Vice President SALTO (Canada), comments: "We are pleased to have won this contract from SFU. One of the greatest challenges any campus faces is balancing the need to create an open learning environment while ensuring that buildings, staff, students and their equipment are protected from the threat of unauthorised access, theft, vandalism and physical attack. SALTO has developed a number of integrated access control solutions specifically for this purpose, providing a complete security package for any school, college or university."
