Cassidian's TETRA network successfully provided the Asian Games Organising Committee with stable, reliable and efficient communication services during the entire 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou.

Operational since April, 2010, the system catered for the security needs of all 16th Asian Games related facilities - over 100 competition and non-competition venues as well as contracted hotels starting with the 16th Asian Games inauguration held on November 12th. With record breaking 2,200,000 calls during the day of inauguration, Cassidian TETRA system again consolidated its position in the PMR market after successfully securing the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

"We are proud that the Asian Games Committee chose Cassidian for the 16th Asian Games, a very important event. We are confident that the success of our digital trunked network during the Beijing Olympics and the 60th anniversary celebration of the People's Republic of China can be repeated," says Galvin Wong, Head of Cassidian PMR activities in Asia Pacific."In addition to the recent selection of Cassidian's TETRA system for the Shenzhen police, this new successful performance highlights the fact that the company's proven TETRA system is China's preferred solution."

Covering the whole Guangzhou area, the network already catered for the needs of over 45,000 users including the municipal government, emergency response units, public security services and safety organisations (including police, traffic policing units, armed forces, etc.) and utility companies. A full team of experts from Finland, France, Hong Kong and mainland China provided 24 hour-a-day on-site support to ensure that the network operated reliably and seamlessly.
This network is the second largest system of this kind built in China.

Collaboration between Cassidian, its strategic partner CETC-7 Ltd. (China Electronics Technology Group Corporation N°7 Research Institute) and the municipality of Guanghzou started with a major contract signed in December, 2009.

The two partners were then commissioned to jointly provide a 800MHz TETRA radio communication network for Guangzhou municipal government, which became operational as early as April, 2010. This network is the second largest system of this kind built in China. Designed to provide over 60,000 users with secure radio communications in an area exceeding 7,000 square kilometres, it comprises two DXTip switches and nearly 200 TB3 base stations.

Cassidian is an expert in providing communication solutions that help secure high profile events where data from various sources - video cameras, biometric recognition systems, airborne platforms, patrol cars, command vehicles, etc. - must be processed, linked and security transmitted to control centres. Cassidian systems help those responsible for event security to deliver end-to-end protection for participants, observers and organisers, as well as discreet protection for VIPs.
