One of Spain’s newest and ‘greenest’ hospitals, Sant Joan Reus has been jointly designed by the architects’ studios Corea & Moran and Pich-Aguilera, specialists in hospital architecture. The hospital, which has 460 beds, specialises in treatments such as oncology, bariatric surgery, plastic surgery and repair, vascular medicine and thoracic surgery.

The new hospital is integrated into the local environment not only from a landscaping point of view but has also been designed to be eco-efficient with the material used in its construction being among the most advanced and environmentally friendly available. Its operation is designed to reduce energy consumption by up to 35% compared with a standard hospital and it also features lighting and water reduction schemes as well as a living green roof.
